UEP 2nd Annual Steering Review Meeting


On December 6th and 7th, the Steering Review group for the Urban Environment Project will convene at UCD Urban Institute Ireland to review progress and plans for the project.

Presentations will be delivered on the updating of MOLAND with 2006 datasets and the calibration process, in addition to a review of the work to date by each of the thematic groups.

Call for papers


Taking place in Manchester Metropolitan University, UK from 2nd to 4th April GIRUK 2008 has now published a call for papers. The conference includes pre-conference workshops (from 1st April) and inclues a young researchers programme. The call particularly encourages papers in:

  • GIS and Urban Issues
  • Visualisation
  • GIS and Eduation and
  • Technologies for neo-Goegraphies

OpenStreetMap talk

Steve Coast of OpenStreetMap will give a talk on free maps and open geodata. The project aims to create and provide free goegraphic data such as street maps to anyone who wants them.

EPA Climate Change Lecture Series

The EPA has organised a free public lecture series on Climate Change which kicks off this evening, 20th November, 6.30pm with Dr. Martin Manning from University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, USA, one of the lead authors of the latest IPCC 4th Assessment Report.
